"Shape Optimization and Free Boundaries"

This mini-symposium is devoted to fixed domain approaches to problems involving unknown domains or moving boundaries.
Optimal design problems and free boundary problems are important examples in this respect.
We shall investigate theoretical convergence results and numerical experiments underlying the advantages and the efficiency of this class of methods. We mention shape optimization problems, obstacle problems, parabolic variational inequalities, fluid-structure interaction problems as main subjects to be discussed.

Our approaches have a large range of possible applications and are valid in arbitrary dimension.
